Mystery Explosions In Morristown Underground Electrical System

Manhole and other explosions have plagued the Morristown, NJ underground electrical system for ten years.  A recent explosion resulted in one person suffering minor injuries.  The utility, Jersey Central Power and Light, has determined the cause of some of the explosions, but the ongoing incidence of continued underground explosions has prompted the New Jersey state Board of Public Utilities to order JCP&L to hire a consulting firm to investigate "to evaluate the state of the network, look into the public’s concerns and make recommendations if necessary to increase the safety and reliability of the network, according to the order."
