OSHA 2012 Statistics On Whistleblower Complaints
OSHA has released statistics on whistleblower complaints. A total of 2,787 whistleblower complaints were
filed with OSHA in 2012. OSHA is working on catching up with its backlog, with determinations made in 2,867 complaints, more than half of those (1,665) were
complaint dismissals. Merit determinations
were made for 45 complaints. Of the remaining, 592 were settled and 565 complaints were withdrawn.

The abbreviations along the right side of the lower chart identify the laws under which the whistleblower complaints were filed. For example:
FRSA - Federal Railroad Safety Act
STAA - Surface Transportation Assistance Act
SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley Act
ACA - Affordable Care Act
CFPA -Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act)
