Russian Workplace Fatality Caught On Video - Man Films His Own Death
Radio free Europe reports on a workplace accident at a demolition site in Russia. I've been to Russia a number of times and there is an attitude of get the job done, however it needs to be improvised. It's a spirit of making do with what's available, because what's available is all there is. This leads to workers being exposed to safety hazards, with the result that many are injured.
The Radio Free Europe article reports:
"According to Russian news reports, as laborers sought to tear down a three-story building in the courtyard of a hardware store with a bulldozer and some steel cabling, a shop employee ambled out and began filming the work with his camera-phone. It's clear from the footage that 29-year-old Yevgeny Titov is unaware that he is in any danger and no attempt is made by the workers to remove him or to create a safety exclusion zone around the demolition area."

This is also a good example showing why we need to always comply with all safety procedures, requirements, codes, and practices... because what we assume is safe, may not be safe.
