Workplace Injury and Death Laws and Compensation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

What are the laws governing workplace injuries and fatalities in the UAE?  What are the required amounts of compensation?  For example, when there is a workplace injury in the UAE the local police do the investigation and determine whether it was actually a workplace accident.

An article in Emirates 24/7 provides an overview of the workplace injury and illness laws in the U.A.E.  It is titled "Know the Law: What employee is entitled in case of injury or death."   You can read that article here.

Nearly Half Of Miner Deaths In Western Austria Are Related To The Worker Being New On The Job

There were 52 mining deaths in Western Austrial between 2000 and 2012. The NEWS.com reports that:

"'Forty nine per cent of these deaths involved workers who were in the first year at their mine sites or fulfilling new roles,' safety director Simon Ridge said this week.  He said the findings reinforced the importance of inductions, training and familiarisation with new environments. The study found 62 per cent of the cases involved onsite procedures not being followed."

This demonstrates the need for quality, comprehensive training whenever someone is starting a new job.  In 62% of the cases the accident resulted from procedures not being followed.
