Companies Worldwide Change Attitude On Safety

"The approach to occupational health and safety is changing for the better all over the world. Companies are shifting from a reactive attitude to a conscious management of operational issues, a prelude to the development of a real corporate culture of occupational health & safety."

The above is the opening paragraph from an article in the Australian publication, Safe To Work.

The article reports that proactive accident prevention has become the rule in the Americas, Asia and Europe.  It provides an overview of the survey conducted by DNV GL - Business Assurance and the research institute GFK Eurisko.

The survey showed that laws and regulations, and internal policies were the main drivers for improved safety.  The primary reasons for a lack of progress on safety were limited financial resources and a focus on short-term results.
